Empowering 20 Villages

"The videos they have made and released are very useful for all of us... I mean, it's like giving a life to a person." - Mitali Kalita Meet Mitali Kalita, a dedicated professional from Amtala in the Kamrup district of Assam, India. 

Working with the Grameen Sahara NGO and serving as an ERA (Entrepreneur for Rural Access), Mitali is on a mission to transform local agriculture through the power of knowledge and technology. By travelling to local villages with a smart projector, Mitali screens valuable training videos that teach farmers how to shift away from harmful chemical pesticides and embrace natural farming methods.

Key Impacts & Success Stories:

• Promoting Natural Farming: Mitali has successfully encouraged farmers to adopt healthier, natural practices using kitchen compost, vermicompost, and mulching. This not only yields healthier vegetables for families to eat and sell but also protects the community from chemical-related illnesses.

• Empowering Local Farmers: Her screenings have directly contributed to the success of local farmers, including Indira Boro and Manju Rava, who are now thriving with their banana and pineapple plantations.

• Technological & Financial Growth: Stepping out of her comfort zone to master the smart projector has been a rewarding experience for Mitali. 

Through her dedicated work screening videos—even offering free shows to families who cannot pay—she has earned over INR 50,000 and gained immense self-confidence. Future Goals: Currently operating in 10 to 12 villages, Mitali plans to expand her awareness campaigns to over 20 villages. She also hopes to introduce new training videos specifically targeting diseases in ginger and turmeric to further support the tribal farming communities.
