Meet Vivek Dwivedi, a dedicated changemaker working with Abhyuday Sansthan in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. In this video, Vivek shares how farmer-to-farmer training videos provided by Access Agriculture are empowering over 2,250 women farmers to adopt sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural practices.
Through community video screenings, farmers in some blocks of Chhatarpur have successfully transitioned from expensive chemical fertilizers (like Urea and DAP) to cost-effective organic solutions like Jeevamrit and vermicompost, significantly reducing their input costs.
Key highlights from this interview include:
• Solving Water Scarcity: How video shows led to an 80% adoption rate of drip irrigation in a local vegetable-farming village, solving severe summer water shortages.
• Zero Cooling Chambers: The life-changing introduction of zero-energy cooling chambers. Farmers can now safely store 3-4 quintals of vegetables for days, preventing distress sales at low prices and securing fair market value.
• Growing Local Businesses: The success of Bio-input Resource Centers (BRCs) and Farmer Field Schools (FFS) selling organic inputs like Brahmaastra and Dashaparni Ark, which has doubled monthly incomes for local producers.
• Dairy & Livestock Health: Insights from a recent Dairymate training in Bangalore on treating livestock diseases (like Mastitis/Thanela) with indigenous herbal medicines.
With the support of the GIZ SuATI Project and Access Agriculture, Vivek from Abhyuday Sansthan NGO are proving that digital education is a powerful tool for rural development.
