On a serene hillside of Central Aceh in Gayo lies Arinagata Cooperative which is built on the ambition of many farmers to develop and alleviate coffee produced by local farmers to new heights. Finding a good market channel for their coffee has been the biggest challenge for these farmers. The Cooperative evolved from an existing coffee trading and exporting company and today it has made many headlines locally as well as abroad. With Fairtrade certification in 2018 it has provided them the opportunity to healthier business practices and to achieve sustainable livelihood for the welfare of their farmers through an innovative Fairtrade Premium Programs.
