Nutri-Rich African Delicacies: Githeri Recipe 2

Githeri is a simple yet nourishing dish originated with Kikuyu tribe. In modern times it has become popular throughout Kenya. The combination of beans and maize supplies a full complement of protein for the often protein-poor diet of many Kenyans.

The delicacy originates from the Kikuyu tribe of Central Kenya but has quickly become popular all across the country. The dish is basically a beans and maize stew (sometimes with cubes of steak and potatoes mixed in for added flavour and nutrients), very rich in proteins and incredibly healthy and filling. It is best served as is, but can also be enjoyed over rice or with a side of crusty bread/chapatis
