While propagating SRI we experienced the absence of youth. Low yields from traditional practices had led youth away from farming because of low income earning possibilities. In 2019 an SRI Pilot Program was initiated in two Primary schools. One was the Keo Mony Primary School in which 17 students participated. The other was the Bosthom Primary School in which 27 students participated. This program is led by the School Principal accompanied by the School Teachers and supported by our KBO Staff involved in this project. They have classes to teach the students the benefits of SRI farming, collecting compost material on the way from home to school, implementing organic farming, learning life skills, care of the environment, and Traditional Khmer Dance.
