The predatory mite Amblyseius swirskii feeds on a wide range of prey. It can develop and reproduce while feeding on non-prey food sources such as pollen. This allows the predator to build up populations before the pests are present. When it comes to whitefly the mite focuses on the eggs and larvae of this pest. Amblyseius pierces its prey with its mouthparts and sucks out the contents. Leaving only the empty skin.
