When young people see a future in farming, including being able to earn a sustainable livelihood and incorporate new technologies, they can become the next generation of farmers and entrepreneurs.
However, if all they see is their family struggle to earn a decent living while working in harsh conditions (which are also at the mercy of climate change) they will more prone than ever be to leave farming behind.
It is imperative working conditions for farmers are fair, and that opportunities for growth are provided and embraced. Young farmers can be drivers of innovation within their cooperatives, as we see the work of Ika in this film.
